An apparent suicide bombing attact in Stockholm on Saturday evening would confirmed a terror attack occured for the first time in Sweden. Two simultaneous explosions rocked central Stockholm on Saturday evening, killing one person and injuring two others.
The first explosion happened when a car parked on somewhat busy street exploded and left two passers-by injured that need of hospital treatment.
The car caught fire following a series of explosions which could have been caused from gas canisters containing liquefied petroleum gas.
The second blast occurred two minutes later and one person was found dead at the scene. Eye witness of the incident told a local paper that the man blew himself up, and luckily nobody was hurt.
But before the explosions happen, Swedish news agency TT allegedly received an email telling Muslims in Sweden and Europe it was "time to take action". Sweden has a small contingent troops in Afghanistan. Another reason Sweden was targeted by Muslim extremist is the potrayal of the Swedish cartoonist of prophet Mohammed as a dog.
Sveriges Television (SVT) reported that both explosions, which occurred about 200 metres from one another, were part of a suicide attack in the Swedish capital. Swedish Foreign Minister referred to the incident on his Twitter postings as a "terrorist attack". Swedish PM tweets "Most worrying attempt at terrorist attack in crowded part of central Stockholm," wrote Bildt.
"Failed -- but could have been truly catastrophic..." he added.
