Michigan is one of the most hard hit states for job loss and some of it’s cities is feeling the effects as well. Pontiac is and has been feeling the effects of the recession on a level that have residents concerned about stray animals.
A unforeseen amount of stray animal are turning up dead on the streets of Pontiac, some feel its because they are being abandon by their owners. In a recent news report, Fox 2 news reporter Roop Raj rode along with the Animal care Network and they saw dozens of dogs either dead or dying.
The cash-strapped city let go of their animal control officer making the problem worse. People are falling on hard times and some can’t keep their animal so they are letting them go and the animals are left to starve.
As Michigan temperatures drop some of the animals are literally freezing to death. The Animal Network is asking if you can’t maintain your pet to call them instead of abandoning the animals.
