Winds whip up wild waves on Lake Erie

According to the latest report of the State Police, the New York State Thruway has been closed between the 50 and 55 exits as snow keeps on falling in the area near Buffalo. It has gotten extremely dangerous for people to be travelling when the snowfall is so heavy so the state police decided to keep the NYS Thruway closed till it is safer for people to venture on the roads. Because of the closure of NYS Thruway, hundreds of motorists have been stranded.

As per the statement of a trooper, the 10-mile stretch of land next to the eastern suburbs was blocked by a heavy trailer which held up the traffic meant for NYS Thruway. Now the vehicles are all buried in the snow but efforts are underway to free the vehicles by the road crew. The snowfall in the Buffalo area is estimated to be 19 inches since last night and that is why the NYS Thruway has been shut down.
