
BURHAKABA – Heavy fighting between the Islamist rivals of Al-shabab and Hizbul Islam forces has broken out at Bur-hakaba town of Bay region in southern Somalia on Wednesday, killing two according to reliable sources there.
Sources said that the clashes between the two sides came as more fighters of Al-shabab ordered Hisbul Islam administration in the town to halt increasing checkpoints collecting taxation currency from civilian traffic in the area which Hizbul Islam refused and caused the fighting.
Ali Ahmed Ali, one of the peacemakers of Bur-hakaba town confirmed that 3 people died in the fighting while 5 others wounded as both sides exchanging heavy gunfire in the town adding that Al-shabab forces had forcibly took over the control of the town.
Latest reports from the areas where the fighting indicate that there was tense situation as most of the residents of the town had the fears of possible fighting between the rivals in southern Somalia.
