Champions League Spartak Moscow vs Olympique Marseille 11/23/2010

GROUP E:

(AS ROMA 3-2 Bayern Munich)

AS Roma performed a come from behind 3-2 victory over Bayern Munich at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome. Mario Gomez struck twice in the first half to give Bayern Munich the lead, in the 33 minutes Gomez sweeps Ribery's cutback into the far corner. Gomez netted his second in the 39 minutes after a poor defending of Roma. In the second half AS Roma rallies to secure the three points. Great effort from Borriello in the 49 minutes to keep Roma in the game, in the 81 minutes De Rossi taps in Riise's low cross to leveled Roma and in the 84 minutes Totti steps up to take the penalty and beats Kraft low into the left corner to seal the complete comeback of Roma. Bayern Munich still on top with 12 points and Roma is second with 9 points and need only a point to qualify, a draw is enough in their next game.

(FC BASEL 1-0 CFR Cluj 1907)

Almerares keeps Swiss side in Champions League last 16 hunt when he strike the only goal in the game in the 15 minutes. FC Basel has 6 points and Cluj with 3 points.

GROUP F:

(Chelsea 2-1 MSK Zilina)

Chelsea secured the top spot when they beat Zilina at Stamford Bridge, goals from Daniel Sturridge and Florent Malouda in the second half save Chelsea from another embarrassing result against Slovakian side Zilina when they took the lead in the 19 minutes from Babatounde Bello. After the break Chelsea equalize when Kalou's ball goes all the way to an unmarked Sturridge at the far post, and the striker hammers the ball past Dubravka in the 51 minutes, 4 minutes before the regulation time ends Anelka clips a ball in to Drogba on the edge of the box, who dinks a header towards the left post where Malouda stabs it to the net. Chelsea now has 15 points while Zilina still unable to get a point.

(Spartak Moskva 0-3 OLYMPIQUE MARSEILLE)

Marseille advances to the next stage after a 0-3 win against Spartak Moskva, in the 18 minutes Maseille take the lead when Heinze clips the ball in to Valbuena and he spins and curls the ball with his left boot right into the top right corner, Remy puts Marseille 2-0 up in the 54 minutes, Brandao make it 3-0 in the 68 minutes when Makeev gives the ball away easily in his own half - under pressure from Ayew. The ball falls to Brandao, who strokes the ball confidently into the bottom right corner. Marseille has 9 points in second place while Spartak has 6 points.

Group G

(Ajax 0-4 REAL MADRID)

As expected powerhouse Real Madrid hammers Ajax in their own turf, the onslaught began in the 36 minutes when Benzema strike a wonderful goal from backheel pass of Ozil. Before halftime Arbeloa double the advantage when he unleashes a stunning drive from 30 yards that swerves in the air so much that Stekelenburg is left rooted to the spot. In the second half Ronaldo strikes in the 70 minutes and added a penalty in the 81 minutes. Before the game ends Alonso and Ramos was sent-off. They are going to miss the match against AJ Auxerre but will have the slate wiped clean for the knockout phase.

(AJ Auxerre 0-2 AC MILAN)

AC Milan progress in the round of 16 with the goals of Ibrahimovic and Ronaldhino, in the 64 minutes Ibrahimovic puts Milan ahead, The Swede got the break underway with a superb flick, Seedorf's attempted through-ball was then blocked but only into the path of Ibrahimovic who lashed home from the edge of the box, in the 90 minutes Ronaldhino closed the show, the Brazilian cut inside from the right and sent a left-footed curling effort past Sorin.

GROUP H

(SPORTING BRAGA 2-0 Arsenal)

Matheus strike twice in the dying minutes of the game to stun Arsenal, in the 83 minutes of the game, Matheus sweeps home in a one-on-one with Fabianski, and get his second in the 90 minutes. Arsenal now face a must-win clash in their final group match if they are to be sure of progressing.

(Partizan 0-3 SHAKHTAR DONETSK)

Shakhtar Donetsk rallies in the second half, goals from Stepanenko, Jadson and Eduardo in the 52, 59 and 68 minutes respectively secure the top spot in their group.
