The killing of a young Irqi journalist - Mazin al-Baghdadi came as a surprise to many journalists in Iraq and around the world.

According to a CNN report, the journalist was killed by gun men in front of his family house on Sunday in the northern city of Mosul adding that the gunmen in civilian clothing showed up at his home around 6 p.m. and identified themselves to his father as intelligence officers.

It noted that when al-Baghdadi, a reporter and anchor for al-Mousiliyya TV, came out from his house to receive the men, they shot him while his family was looking on.

CNN report said that not fewer than 230 journalists and media workers have been killed in Iraq since the United States (U.S).-led invasion began in 2003 and that his scenario has made Iraq to be one of the deadliest countries in the world for journalists.

“In other violence in Iraq, at least six people were wounded in bomb attacks around the country's capital,” CNN stated.
