The split decision acted as a catalyst victory for Rampage Jackson in his light heavyweight mixed martial arts match against Lyoto Machida at UFC 123 on Saturday in Auburn Hills.
Unlike the last time, Lyoto Machida was involved in a decision, Dana White clearly refused to have an immediate rematch this time between Rampage Jackson and Machida, announcing Jackson as the winner.
In spite of the split decision result and offer of a rematch from Quinton ‘Rampage' Jackson himself, the UFC 123 main event fighters preferred to move on to other opponents and not face one another again immediately.
In the post-fight press conference, UFC President Dana White clearly answered in negative to the rematch of Jackson and Machida and declared Jackson as the victor of the fight, as he entirely won the first two rounds of the fight.
Even after getting a chance to celebrate the split decision victory, Rampage Jackson offered Lyoto Machida a rematch from his part which was later not accepted by Dana White.
