Organized military forces around the world have many different types of uniforms. They are worn to signify specific jobs within the military. Some vary in style and colors. To aid in combat, they often blend with the surrounding areas on the battlefields. Uniforms are designed to serve many purposes, such as for distinction, camouflage, logistics and even psychological warfare.

With uniforms, combatants can distinguish individuals protected by the laws of war. There are individuals who fight in battles but are not protected by laws of war. It is also a way to prevent deserters as they could easily be identified through their distinctive uniforms.

Uniforms have evolved to serve the purpose of visibility and camouflage. Bright colors are used to help in identification in the battlefield. The camouflaged one, make it virtually indistinguishable from the surrounding landscape.

It is easier to produce and equip armies with standard sized uniforms during wars in large magnitude, an economical and easier way to outfit thousands of soldiers. As a psychological warfare, form enhancing appurtenances, like large caps, capes, colors that make soldiers appear larger and fazing often disturb the composure of the opponents.

Today uniforms are simpler but during military parades or formal occasions, soldiers wear full dress uniforms of their respective units to fit the occasion. Watch the photos above to see for yourself the different bizarre military parade uniforms.
