As the weather gets colder the one thing I'm sure of is I will soon catch the cold. Then for the rest of the winter they seem never ending between us all so anything that makes it a little easier is perfect. The worst part of the cold for me is the blocked nose as most of the time it gets worse at night and I love my sleep.Vix is an ointment that contains active ingredients that help clear congested breathing.Just a little of Vix rubbed on the chest works absolute wonders for me almost instantly my nose is cleared and its so much easier to breath and therefore sleep.Vaporub should not be placed directly on or under the nostril as it contains a toxic if it enters nose or mouth. I find it best to rub a little on my chest. It feels a little tingly as it also works to help circulation but after a minute or two the only way to tell is from the very strong and distinctive smell it gives off. I only have to ass a small amount and it has maximum effect lasting all night and even when I wake in the morning it is still detectable and my nose is still clear. My tub gets used often in the winter but it lasts very well I have had the same pot for a year now but soon will have to replace it. I think it mainly helps unblock my nose i sometimes still get a scratchy throat and need a little extra help for my coughing but saying this it is still fantastic and relieving the main annoyance I have when I have a cold and that is my blocked nose. The only downside for me is the smell can be a little overwhelming at times but that is a small dissadvantage for the good work that it does. My mother used this on me when I was younger and I will continue to use it for my family. I buy a 100 g tub which costs me around £4. It is suitable for anyone over 6 months old although it is suggested that you put it on young children's back under there clothing rather than there chest. I would definitely recommend this to anyone I believe it is a must have in any family's medicine cupboards.
