Supporters wait for Suu Kyi release

The U.S. president, Barack Obama on Saturday welcomed the release of Burmese opposition activist Aung San Suu Kyi and said that should have happened much earlier . She is my heroine and an inspiration to all who work to promote human rights in Burma and around the world. The United States celebrates its freedom, long overdue," the president said in a statement . Many other world leaders as President of the European Commission Jose Manuel Durao Barroso, the secretary general of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), Surin Pitsuwan, French President Nicolas Sarkozy, British Prime Minister, David Cameron, and organizations Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International welcomed the news .
