U.S President Barack Obama accompanied by first lady Michelle Obama is visiting India from 6-9 November 2010 on the invitation of Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
A high-level delegation including his National Security Adviser Tom Donillon; Timothy Geithner, Secretary of Treasury; Gary Locke, Secretary of Commerce; Thomas Vilsack, Secretary of Agriculture; Rajiv Shah Administrator of USAID besides a large business delegation are also accompanying the President.
President Obama will arrive in Mumbai in the forenoon of 6 November.
He will first pay homage to the victims of the terrorist attack in Mumbai, followed by his visit to Mani Bhavan to pay homage to Mahatma Gandhi. Obama afterwards will attend a Business Summit organized by the US India Business Council.
On 7th November he will address a ‘Town Hall’ meeting and associated events at the St Xavier’s College and visit a Primary School.
He will leave Mumbai and reach Delhi in the afternoon of 7th November. His itinerary includes a brief visit to Humayun’s tomb. He will be the guest of honor at a dinner hosted by the IndianPrime Minister.
On 8th November , the US president will be given a ceremonial reception at Rashtrapati Bhavan, followed by a visit to Raj Ghat.
President Obama and Manmohan Singh will meet in the forenoon and discuss bilateral, regional and global developments of mutual concern.
After the Summit level meeting, they will chair a meeting of the India-US CEO Forum.
Thereafter the two leaders will address a Joint Press Conference. Sonia Gandhi will also call on President Obama.
That evening President Obama will address a joint session of both houses of the Indian Parliament. He will conclude his visit by meeting the Indian President, and a State Dinner for him and the First Lady at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
President Obama will leave Delhi on 9 November 2010 for Indonesia.
