Grammy-award winning rap star Lil Wayne (real name Dwayne Carter, nickname Weezy) is being released today after doing 8-months long, not-so-hard time at Rikers Island prison.

According to his reps, Lil Wayne will be treated like royalty upon his return and will be given a red carpet welcome complete with jets, luxury cars and beautiful women. The rap star was arrested near a U.S. Border Patrol checkpoint on January 22, 2008 after being caught with powerful drugs like cocaine, ecstasy and a .40-caliber semiautomatic gun on his tour bus.

On 8th March, 2010 he was sentenced to one year in prison, though he has only served 8 months. His lawyers accepted a plea deal which consists of three years unsupervised probation, community service and no jail time for the remainder of the term.

Apparently, the rap star’s incarceration was nothing short of an 8-month rest in relative luxury. According to the rap star himself, he was allowed to talk to his family everyday, ate succulent meals, read and respond to fan mail and listened to the radio. He even started his own blog weezythanxyou.com while in prison, and used it to communicate with his fans. He posted his last blog from prison last night thanking God, his family, friends, and fans for their neverending support and getting him through his ordeal.

Even more astonishingly, Lil Wayne’s incarceration did not stop him from making music and belting out new singles and videos on a very regular basis, a first for any imprisoned artist. There is a lot of media speculation on what Lil Wayne will do once he gets out. There are rumors of comeback tours but nothing official has been announced as yet. For now, his fans can celebrate this seemingly unstoppable musician.
