Demi Lovato, the teenage Disney star of Sonny With A Chance... and Camp Rock, has checked herself into rehab, according to the actress' rep. Lovato dropped out of the world tour she was currently on with The Jonas Brothers.
Lovato checked into an in-patient treatment center for help with "emotional and physical issues," according to a statement released by her publicist Monday evening. Shortly after, her Twitter page (twitter.com/ddlovato) came up with a "Page Does Not Exist" message.
According to TMZ, Joe Jonas' recent ex-girlfriend was involved in a physical altercation with a female member of the tour recently. It's reported that the altercation was a "catalyst" in her decision to seek professional help.
Many young stars in the past decade, including, Lindsay Lohan, Mischa Barton, and Mary-Kate Olsen, have given the initial excuse of "emotional and physical issues" when checking into a rehabilitation center. Lohan and Barton had substance abuse problems and Mary-Kate developed an eating disorder. This could be the case for Lovato.
At only 18-years-old, Lovato is rail thin, giving her kid fans, and teen Tumblrs', the inspiration to be skinny, calling it "Thinspo". The Daily Fill posted a photo (see gallery) of Lovato, wearing a baggy shirt with her hips jutting out labeling it, "She gives thinspiration to girls everywhere! She's a giver! Demi is doing her part in society by tweeting pics of her after days of hard work, not eating. Hey, young girls need something to aspire to!"
Lovato released her second album, Here We Go Again, in 2009, and Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam premiered on Disney in late summer 2010.
