Blekko, a new search engine launched on Monday for public use is offering more refined search results from reliable sources to rival Google, the best search engine on the technology scene. Blekko also claims to avoid spam sites on the search results which Google unfortunately cannot prevent.
According to a statement by the co-founder of Blekko, Rich Skrenta, Blekko’s goal is "to clean up the web search and get all the spam out of it”. Blekko exceeds its counterparts like Google, Bing etc. in offering spam-free results and presenting a batch of the most useful sites to the recipient. The main advantage of Blekko over its predecessors is that it introduces the slashtag type of search technique in which the user can add a forward slash followed by the keyword to the end of a search in order to restrict the search to trustworthy sources and specific sites. Furthermore, Blekko allows the users to build their own list of slashtags.
