Mogadishu : Somalia’s former military commander has revealed that soldiers working for the Transitional Federal Government (TFG ) supported by the West are selling their weapons to Al Shebab terrorists who are fighting against them.
The general has provided accurate information about the process that has been reported earlier on several occasions without any action taken by the TFG.
The statement of General Dhumal states that the biggest source of weapons for these terrorists fighting the government is the government soldiers who are disgruntled because of lack of payment of salaries by the government.
The statement says that the TFG forces routinely sell their weapons and ammunitions at the main weapons market in Mogadihsu known as “ Cirtoogte “ or the sky shooter. The militants then simply get access to buying the weapons from the weapons market.
The discrepancy in the weapons inventory of the TFG has always been a problem that has been ignored and this statement by a former general sheds lights on the reason of the missing weapons.
Somalia did not have a functioning government since the fall of the late dictator Siyad Barre in 1991 and has since then been home to religious factions fighting any government that is formed to rule the country
