At least five people, including two brothers, were killed in Kalat district on Friday in a tribal dispute over a piece of land between Nichari and Bangulzai Baloch clans, police said.
According to the details, unidentified persons, reportedly belonging to the Bangulzai clan, opened indiscriminate fire on a vehicle of members of rival Nechari clan near Mangocher town of Kalat district. As a result, four people died on the spot while another succumbed to his injuries in the local hospital.
The dead people were identified as Mohammad Zaman, Amanullah, Abdul Rasool and Habibullah. Another man, Hidayatullah, a brother of Amanullah who was killed earlier on the spot during the same incident, died at the hospital.
Police said both the clans had been in a state of conflict in the recent times over a piece of land in Mangochar town. However, the attackers managed to escape from the scene and police said it was hunting for the murderers. Local residents said a very tense situation prevailed in the area after the incident and local businesses were instantly shut due to widespread panic among the people. Police also cordoned off the area and started a search operation to trace the killers.
