Stoke City v Manchester United 0:2 by Jack

Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez came over to Manchester United with much fanfare after his superb play for Mexico in the World Cup. However, all of that hullabaloo had not brought about production as he only had one goal so far in the Barclays Premier League. However, he justified the hype and silenced the naysayers by scoring both of Manchester United goals in their 2-1 victory against Stoke at the Britannia.

Hernandez started his goal-scoring onslaught in the 27th minute by deflecting a corner kick into the net with a header. The difficulty was increased because he had his back to the goal, yet he was still able to knock the ball into the goal with the back of his head.

The score stayed 1-0 until the 81st minute when Stoke forward Tuncay scored a marvellous goal by faking out the defender on the right side of the field and delivering a kick into the top left-hand corner of the goal to tie the match.

At this point, it seemed like the score would end up a 1-1 draw. However, we are dealing with Manchester United, the luckiest team in professional soccer team history. Chicharito was able to deflect a rebound of a Patrice Evra (who played midfield today, he normally is a defender) kick into the net in the 86th minute to give Manchester United the victory.

Here are the starting lineups from the match (27,372 in attendance):

Manchester United: Goalkeeper: Van der Sar. Defenders: O'Shea, Neville, Ferdinand, Vidic. Midfielders: Evra, Scholes, Fletcher, Nani. Forwards: Hernandez, Berbatov.

Stoke: Goalkeeper: Sorensen. Defenders: Faye, Shawcross, Collins, Huth. Midfielders: Delap, Wilson, Pennant, Etherington. Forwards: Jones, Walters.

It was a stunningly improvised first strike showing his incredible abilities and instincts as a striker. The second goal by Chicharito was more meaningful since it bagged the points!

A victory against Stoke City is respectible but it is not exactly a top club. I am not talking about the goals scored by Chicarito. I am talking about the whole game. Rooney supposed to be injured yet he flew out to Dubai instead having treatment at the club -- what a fast and yet another fast. What is going on? The fans paying not only high prices but very high prices to support them and that is what they get. Already the picture of Rooney, sitting on the ground, did not look convincing rather bored. As they say cameras don't lie.
