Wwoowww..... This amazing home has an undergound bunker capable of withstanding a blast 80 times bigger than the one that devastated Hiroshima.
The house belongs to Mr Thomas, 56- an electrical engineer who bought it a long time back in 1985 having four bedrooms, a big garden and sea views......what else one wants!!
But Thomas definately knew what he wanted so he built a nuclear bunker by taking the help of a civilian engineer who used to build bunkers for the Ministry of Defence. It took almost six months to complete the work with the cost of £45,000 - or £200,000 at today's prices. The greatest thing about the working was it did not require planning permission because it is underground.
The 300sq ft bunker is 20ft below his kitchen and has 32in thick concrete walls. There is enough food and water stored for a family to spend a whole month peacefully.
This shelter has two entrances a shaft from the kitchen or through a fake wardrobe in the study. Both the entraces are well protected with huge steel blast door.In addition it has an emergency exit in case of emergency.
The bunker consists of six beds,Swiss-made ventilation system, power supply with a diesel-powered generator,TV,DVD player,a microwave and various board games and booksfor time pass. The temperature is kept constant at 12C.
It also features a 1,400-litre water tank, toilet, a small hand basin, and a phone line.
Mr Thomas said: 'Who knows what will happen in the future? It wouldn't surprise me if there a terrorist nuclear attack within the next 15 years.'
Uptill now it is the strongest privately-owned bomb shelter in Britain and can withstand a one megaton nuclear blast.
But now Mr Thomas is selling up his masterpiece at a price of £350,000.
'When I built the bunker I was a young man with my whole life ahead of me. I wanted to make absolutely sure my family was safe', he said.
'I'm now not as fearful of a nuclear attack as I once was. I hope it can now offer another family the same peace of mind it has given us.'
