The ministers from countries of the Asia-Pacific warned, food security was vulnerable.
They called for increased production to help a billion people undernourished worldwide.
The APEC ministers also stressed the need to increase investment and trade and to promote efficient and equitable distribution system to reduce global hunger.
"Global food security was at the critical points. The price of food increased in 2007 and 2008 be the year of warnings on food security in the long run," they said in a meeting in Niigata, Japan, Sunday (17/10/2010).
"Improving the food supply safe, nutritious and adequate in the APEC region by expanding the supply capacity is needed to determine the possibility of supply-demand imbalance of food that could impact on future earnings and growth," he said in a statement.
"Now it's time to take clear action to provide food future," he continued.
The meeting was held earlier than the annual APEC meetings, which will take place in Yokohama next month.
