After three earthquakes rattled the island nation of Tonga (one this morning) ranging from 5.5-6.1 on the Richter scale; East Timor experienced their own earth rattling shaking at 12:40 am Sunday morning (15:44 GMT Saturday).
The epicenter of the quake is 138 kilometers from the capital of East Timor (officially named Timor-Leste) a state in Southeast Asia. Dili, the capital city of the Maritime Southeast Asian country and is considered part of the Indonesian province.
There are no immediate reports of damage, injury or casualties. The area has been rocked by earthquakes in the past week. Along with the Tongan earthquake groupings; there has been a tremendous amount of seismic activity in the Pacific.
No Tsunami alerts have been issued as of this writing. The country is relatively poor and depends on agriculture and tourism. The threat of a Tsunami alarms not only the citizens of the small area, but the financial foundation of the tiny nation.
