The Island nation of Tonga has been hit by another earthquake early this morning. The quake registered a 5.8 coming on the heels of two strong quakes on October 12th. The early quakes registered a 6.1 and 5.5 magnitude on the 12th. There was no Tsunami alert from the earlier quakes.
As of this writing no Tsunami alert has been registered for the Island nation and surrounding islands. There is a high possibility that the status will change. Residents of Tonga, Samoa and surrounding islands are prepared for such disasters. Several Tsunami alerts have been registered this year.
There was no reported damage or injuries from the October 12th quakes. It is too early to list if there are injuries, casualties or extensive infrastructure or private damage due to this morning’s quake. The rise in the number of quakes and their intensity has caused alarm in Tonga in recent weeks.
Seismic activity has been elevated in the Pacific and causing much havoc and alarm for those that reside in the small island nations. The onslaught of quakes in the last week has caused considerable concern to the residents.
