This is odd.

Two surgeons will face charges with bodily injury caused by negligence, after amputating the wrong leg of a 90-year-old Austrian woman over the summer, said prosecutors in Innsbruck Tuesday.

To face trial in November, the operating surgeon and assistant allegedly made the mistake when planning the operation.

Now 91-years old, the female patient who suffered from vascular disease went to the hospital in the Tyrolean town of Sankt Johann on 16 June for leg amputation.

After the operation, the doctors realized they had removed the wrong leg.

The attending surgeon was suspended for 25 years.

The woman had the correct limb removed in a second operation a few days later.
