Solomon Burke has died at seventy in Netherlands, reports say. Solomon Burke was a soul singer hailed by the Atlantic Records. In 2001, Solomon Burke was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Solomon Burke was born on March 21, 1940, in Pennsylvania. He won a Grammy Award for singing and song writing. Solomon Burke's first hit was "Cry to Me".

Solomon Burke started life as a cleric in Philadelphia. He then started a gospel radio show. Solomon Burke is said to have met many times with Preacher Martin Luther King Jr.

Solomon Burke had an extraordinary connection with the Catholic Church. In the year 2000, Solomon Burke and his kin were requested to perform at the Family Jubilee at the Vatican. Since that time, Vatican had been re-inviting Solomon Burke.

Solomon Burke was also involved in managing a business of mortuary in Los Angeles. Solomon Burke got training as a mortician early during his childhood. Solomon Burke had also served in the funeral parlor of his uncle.

It is amazing to note that Solomon Burke has 21 children, 90 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Many of Solomon Burke's children and grandchildren have marked their names in the music industry.
