Over the last few days, I have been reviewing the Guinness World Records and was going to add a Top Ten listing to the website. Instead, I have chosen some of the then record breaking events that were either held in the Philippines or had significant impact from a Filipino.

Note: All records were officially recognized at the time.

Four records were smashed on March 15, 2008:

Most blood identification tests in 24 hours

The most blood identification tests taken in 24 hours was 260 and was achieved by Grace Galindez-Gupana, President of HalleluYAH Prophetic Global Foundation Philippines, with the sponsorship of ABS Gen Herbs International Corporation at the HalleluYAH Prayer Mountain for All Nations, in San Mateo, Rizal, Philippines, on 15 March 2008.

Most cholesterol readings taken in 24 hours

The most cholesterol readings taken in 24 hours was 527 and was achieved by Grace Galindez-Gupana, President of HalleluYAH Prophetic Global Foundation Philippines, with the sponsorship of ABS Gen Herbs International Corporation at the HalleluYAH Prayer Mountain for All Nations, in San Mateo, Rizal, Philippines, on 15 March 2008.

Longest drawing

The longest drawing measured 5,007.36 m (16,428 ft 3.76 in), it depicted a long dragon and was organised by Grace Galindez-Gupana, President of HalleluYAH Prophetic Global Foundation Philippines, with the sponsorship of ABS Gen Herbs International Corporation at the HalleluYAH Prayer Mountain for All Nations, in San Mateo, Rizal, Philippines, on 15 March 2008.

Most diabetes readings taken in 24 hours

The most diabetes readings taken in 24 hours was 503 and was achieved by Grace Galindez-Gupana, President of HalleluYAH Prophetic Global Foundation Philippines, with the sponsorship of ABS Gen Herbs International Corporation at the HalleluYAH Prayer Mountain for All Nations, in San Mateo, Rizal, Philippines, on 15 March 2008.

Numerous records continue to be set in the dance category. Here is one that was a record!

Largest Dance Class 17 held in Cebu & Uploaded by 7770.

The Largest Flag

On the 25th of November 2007 the largest flag with a total area of 18,843 m² (202,823.55 ft²) was unfurled at Masada Airfield, Israel organised by Sar-El Tours. The location was chosen very carefully - between two other record locations: the Dead Sea on the Israel-Jordan border (the lowest exposed body of water on Earth, at 400 m (1,312 ft) below sea level) and Masada, where, according to the historian Flavius Josephues (c.37-100), some 960 Jewish zealots committed suicide by cutting each others' throats during a siege by the Romans in AD 73, thus resulting in the largest mass suicide of ancient times.

The flag was created at the initiative and financing of Sister Grace Galindez-Gupana, a Philippine business woman and ardent supporter of Israel, to honour 50 years of friendly relations between Israel and the Philippines after the idea was conceived 2.5 years ago. Sister Grace, who has been working for many years to promote tourism between the two countries, decided to make two flags of equal size – one each of Israel and the Philippines.

Most people breast feeding

The most women breast feeding simultaneously was 3,541 at an event organised by Children for Breastfeeding Inc., and the City of Manila in partnership with Nurturers of the Earth Inc., UNICEF and the Department of Health of the Republic of the Philippines at the San Andres Sports Complex and Cultural Center, Malate, Manila, Philippines on 4 May 2006.

CITIZENS ACROSS GLOBE DEMANDING THAT THEIR LEADERS END POVERTY

More than 173 Million People Gather at “Stand Up, Take Action, End Poverty Now!” events, setting new world record for largest mobilization in history

Despite the typhoons that hit the Philippines just before “Stand Up,” 35.5 million people in the country Stood Up and the “I Vote for MDGs” campaign, a survey on the issues voters believe should be prioritized by the 2010 Presidential candidates, was launched.

By the way, what a coincidence! My country set a Guinness record just yesterday. Please read my post.

Certainly will do, I have a thousand things on too many to-do lists and I should really try to limit to a Top Ten!
Are you a member of the Guinness site?
I want to set a new record here in the Philippines next April 1, 2011; it is not a joke.
