Passengers of Singapore Airlines will now be able to take advantage of its first inflight wireless internet access at 35,000 feet by 2011.

According to SIA Senior Vice President for Product and Services Ya Kim Wah, this has been made possible by SIA's new connectivity platform. Access to live information, social networking and news updates as well as online shopping will also be available.

The management of SIA explained however that passengers will be charged for using this service. The details of the charges will be announced prior its launch early next year.
