Anysha Panesar's recent crowning as the 2010 American's Perfect teen has caused an outrage among the 30 other losing contestants because she is British. She has been staying with her family in Kissimee, Florida for an undisclosed amount of time on holiday. "Some people did say I shouldn't have won because I'm British. But really I think the people who said that just said it because they didn't win." Anysha has stated about the outcry. "My mum was sitting there crying her eyes out and my dad didn't know what to do with himself. My grandparents were on the phone, they were all so proud."
Protests from the mothers of losing candidates have reached the organisers of the pageant but they say that no rules have been broken. The pageant has a grand prize of $2000 and an $18,000 scholarship to train becoming a TV broadcaster. As of right now, Anysha is back in classes at Howells School in Cardiff, UK and plans to take advantage of the scholarship after finishing her A-levels. There have also been talks to have her own TV show about her year as 'America's Perfect Teen'. Anysha is of Indian origin and lives with her family in the village Llangan in Vale of Glamorgan.
