Federal Minister for Food and Agriculture Nazar Mohammad Gondal told the Australian High Commissioner
The worst-hit agriculture sector needs immediate international support and assistance to normalise the lives of millions of people in the country, he said.
The minister urged the Australian private enterprises to donate hybrid canola and sunflower seeds and secure the potential local markets for future business. Pakistan also requires bulldozers and agricultural machinery to reclaim the land badly damaged by the floods, he asked the Australian high commissioner.
Mr Gondal also said that the bilateral trade must be increased and the Australian business people must be encouraged to invest in Pakistan.
Tim George said that Australia had given an aid of $35 million for the flood-affected areas apart from running healthcare centres at different places.
He said that the cooperation between the two countries had increased over a couple of years, and we were seriously considering offering assistance in the areas where we specialise.
