Based in Toronto, this semi-professional sports league is centered around public pillow fights. The tongue in cheek women’s sport is hosted in a fighting arena, much like a boxing or wrestling match. Pre-selected female “fighters” with stage personalities are paid small amounts to stage regular, unscripted fights. The rules call for “no lewd behavior, and moves such as leg drops or submission holds are allowed as long as a pillow is used”.
Fights within the Pillow Fight League (PFL) now feature either two or three girls, the latter referred to as a damage à trois, and a codified set of rules. Fighters frequently incur cuts, scrapes and bruises. There have also been more serious injuries, including concussions, black eyes, lost teeth, split lips, torn muscles, and bruised kidneys.
