An attempt by 17 attorneys general who urged Craigslist to discontinue its adult services section has born fruit as Craigslist has decided to censor its adult services section.
According to an attorney who was spearheading the movement, this could be a model for other websites and help in fighting against prostitution.
Apparently, the sites was under attack for promoting prostitution as the ads enabled human trafficking and assaults on women. Craigslist was accused of lacking the wherewithal to screen these ads which aided prostitution. In an investigation it was found that Craigslist Adult Services section counted more than 7,000 ads in a single day.
