William Hague Comes Out With Gay Denial
Ex Tory leader and current Foreign Secretary William Hague MP has issued a formal statement denying any relationship with male aide Chris Myers, 25.
In an extraordinary move Mr Hague has decided to publicly reject rumours that have flooded the internet that he has been conducting a personal close relationship with Mr Myers.
The mainstream press has fought shy of naming Mr Hague as the senior Tory about who allegations have been spreading until this formal statement was released last night.
The allegations first came to light when a the Guido Fawkes political blogster, Paul Staines alleged that Mr Hague and Mr Myers spent a night together in a hotel during the general election campaign.
Mr Myers and Mr Hague were rarely seen apart during the campaign when Myers drove Mr Hague around as he campaigned.
William Hague's spokesman said last night:
'Any suggestion that the Foreign Secretary's relationship with Chris Myers is anything other than a purely professional one is wholly inaccurate and unfounded.'
Last week saw the 11th Tory MP, Crispin Blunt, come out as gay and some feel that the allegations against Mr Hague are opportunist rumour mongering by the Guido Fawkes blog that has 'got out of hand'
Mr Hague (49) has been married wife Ffion (42) since 1997.
