Specifically designed for use by maritime organizations, the Self Inflatable Marker Buoy is used by the Royal Melbourne Yacht Squadron.
The Self Inflatable Marker Buoy (SIMB) is suited to maritime operations, (Yacht clubs, Power Boat races, Open water swimming, Surf Life Saving) as it has no need for a blower, a gas tank or an air pump. The distinctive marker buoy inflates itself by using the dynamics of buoyancy force and trapper air.
As a result of the ease of deployment the self inflatable marker buoy is used by several of New Zealand and Australia’s leading yacht clubs, (Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron, Royal Yacht Club of Tasmania).
Made from durable, completely waterproof polyester reinforced PVC acrylic, lacquer top-coated, fully UV stabilized, flame retardant and mildew resistant. Capable of being deployed for temporary maritime service and emergency marking, the fabric used to make the buoy has a tensile strength of 4000N/5cm and tear strength of 500N. The unique design is able to handle even the rough sea conditions found in the South Pacific, and retains its flexibility to -30deg c.
The Self Inflatable Marker Buoy has been deployed for use in regional and international: Yachting and sailing races, Surf lifesaving events, Rowing course markers, New Zealand Power Boat regattas
"...Packed the buoy is only 80 x 10cm so it's very easy to carry several on board a small RIB...the speed of deploying and retrieving the buoys far exceeded expectations,” Steve Newport, Nelson Yacht Club”.
Deployment of the Self Inflating Marker Buoy is simple enough deployed from a very small RIB’s “Port Stephens Aquatic Club” or from a jet ski.
The buoy can be deployed even in rough sea conditions by simply unclipping the retainer from around the marker buoy, attaching the weight, and then unfolding the buoy to its full length as it is lowered it into the water.
The Self Inflatable Marker Buoy inflates itself easily as it enters the water, reducing issues with land based inflation or difficulties that emerge when trying to transfer a buoy into position on using small boats.
