An artist would always love something that is interesting and bespoke of class and sophistication or perhaps a sense of cultured maturity.
My interest in interior design and stuff was fueled by my passion for the arts and everything that is beautiful.I dreamed of becoming a designer whether interior, fashion or anything that puts to use my raw talent in the creative aspect.
For a moment, I was pretty off and out with my artsy taste but was rekindled when I happen to pass by a cafe in MOA named Cafe 5845. I was stunned to see the place. It was on the North Wing of the giant mall complex near the Imax. The open air cafe reminds of fabulous places in Europe. It was shabby chic, a brand popularized by Rachel Ashwell in the US.
Comfort, the beauty of imperfections, the allure of time-worn objects, and the appeal of simple practical living: these are the cornerstones of the Shabby Chic® brand. Like the cozy familiarity of a well-worn pair of faded jeans, the dilapidated elegance of an Italian villa, the worn grandeur of faded velvets and mismatched floral china handed down from your grandmother’s attic, the brand is a revived appreciation for what is used, well-loved, and worn, it is a respect for natural evolution and a regard for what is easy and sensible.
Creating a brand synonymous with her aesthetic and lifestyle, designer Rachel Ashwell founded Shabby Chic in 1989 on the philosophy of beauty, comfort, and function. Her first store, located in Santa Monica, CA, sold Rachel’s washable furniture slipcovers and fabulous flea market finds.
Today, Rachel Ashwell Shabby Chic Couture™ flagship stores are located in Santa Monica, California, SoHo, New York and London’s Notting Hill neighborhood, with ever-expanding lines of bedding, furniture, accessories and vintage items. The Simply Shabby Chic® line of bedding and home accessories, created in 2004 through an exclusive partnership with Target stores, continues to bring the brand’s blend of English elegance and California casual to Target customers nationwide.
And this was shown in every aspect of the cafe which was gaining popularity for its diners due to its chic frame.
Another notable moment for Cafe 5845 was it creation and conceptualization. i learned its history when I read the information on the wall.
The Magsaysay Institute of Hospitality and Culinary Arts students garnered a recognition when they featured their 5,845 dishes made with Kraft foods at an event in Araneta Coliseum last December 2009.
The cafe is offered for those cheese lovers because, mainly the dishes served are made with cheese by Kraft Foods. One good point in dining in this cute little mecca is the kind of quality they offer plus a very unique dining experience in a very affordable price.
The food they offer here in their menu speaks of the fine dining quality.
Apple and Ham Stuffed Chicken with Mornay Sauce was the dish I tried for less than 200 bucks.
The other one was the Vegetarian Pizza with French Fries Side Dish.
I fell in love with the presentation of the food in huge square platters. When I tasted the dish,I was on high when the chicken was very flavorful added by the rich texture of the mornay sauce and the blanched vegetable sidings. The pizza on the other hand was full of savory herbs that was very delectable to the taste. The fries made a scene as it never was an ordinary french fries you can buy in fastfood chains, there was an organic feel in its taste.
It made me so glad that i wrote on their comment wall of how i love the place, the food and everything. I promised I would be writing about it and bring my family along, which I did the next sunday.
I was with my siblings and my niece that time, after a Binyagan event in Dad's Glorietta 3, we went to MOA for a coffee ending up in Krispy Kreme.
I had Penne Amatriziana with Shrimp and Lemon Iced Tea
while Aitanna had meat lovers pizza and Orange Ponkan as a beverage.
Thumbs up also for the creamy crepe with lots of cheese on top. It was truly a fete gastronomique at Cafe 5845.

Based on my siblings judgment about the new place, they liked it a lot and wants to try some other dishes another time.
As for me, I felt satisfied that i shared this little discovery with my family and knowing that they were more than happy, I felt a hundred times more happier than I could have been.
Kudos to Cafe 5845 and its creators!keep it up!
