Jimmy Carter and Aijalon Gomes

Aijalon Gomes an American who had been found guilty of illegally entering North Korea and sentenced to 8 years hard labor. Former President Jimmy Carter met with Kim Yong Nam president of the North Korean People's Assembly. Kim Jong-il was apparently on a visit to China. However he granted Gomes a pardon and it is assumed he will fly back to the U.S. with Carter to Boston Mass. where he will be reunited with his family.

Carter had arrived on Wednesday at the invitation of the North Korean government, but it was not known whether he met with Mr. Kim, the North Korean leader. Perhaps Carter should visit Iran to see if he can get the U.S. hikers released!
