hostage taking of captain mendoza, quirino grandstand. watch what will happen on 2 ...

I have to Blog this and let emotions flow. I've been glued to the TV watching the Quirino Grandstand Hostage Crisis. It’s really frustrating to watch how the PNP handled the situation. I have questions too that needs answers. Whew! I am really really frustrated how this was handled by the PNP. By the way, yes I have been using the word "Frustrated" repeatedly. In my opinion, this is just an issue of pride and glory by SP02 Mendoza. I won't be blogging about SP02 Mendoza since that's the work of our Media and I’m not in the position to make news about it since I lack investigative reporting skills. However, I will be blogging about how it blew out of proportion and how mismanaged the scenario was. SP02 Mendoza set a deadline of 3 o'clock. If demands were not met, he will execute some of the hostages. But past 6:30 nothing happened. But when the PNP arrested the brother of SP02 Mendoza in live television, that what started the chaos. The brother who is also a policeman was not spared of disrespect from his fellow policemen. And to think, the brother was a high ranking policeman himself. He was mishandled, abused and not respected. I doubt if he was given his procedural Miranda Doctrine. The PNP was so dumb that the hostage taker, SP02 Mendoza was watching it via TV inside the bus where he was with the hostage.

I bet thats what angered the hostage taker. That's when shots were fired. That's when policemen, the swat team and the rest raced towards the bus without plans on what to do, how to do it and when to do it. It took them more than I don't know exactly how long but 1 hour and 30 minutes is not an exaggeration. Giving time for the hostage taker to kill everyone. And to think, SP02 Mendoza was an awardee of “Outstanding Policeman" once in his career. And now my questions: (1) Were they aware that arresting the hostage taker's brother (televised) would anger the hostage taker and that it may result what has happened? (2) 1 of the demand is a Media man/ a reporter so he can air his demand over TV, why didn't they give in to this demand? (3) SPO2 Mendoza even freed 7 hostages before the 3pm deadline. It was not his intention to hurt anyone but to only air his demand, why arrest the brother and anger the hostage taker? Hmmmm, sounds like a conspiracy here. That's just my views. Damn! Now the country looks bad. After the torture scandal, here comes the hostage taking crisis.
