Final resting place

I spoke with a friend the other day and he told me about an episode in Discovery Channel that showed a featured about Evita Peron and how she was made into a mummy.

Evita's husband thought that he just stayed in power because of Evita, so when she passed away, he hired a scientist to mummify her. At first they injected wax in her veins. Later, she was soaked in some kind of wine or brandy then her whole body was injected with wax. They wanted to turn Evita into some kind of saint or icon and have her waxed body available for public viewing.

However, they were not able to do this since Evita's husband has already been overthrown. The new government found the mummified body and did not want anybody to know about this so they decided to bury Evita's body in a mossoleum in Milan, Italy. They had to keep this in secret so they named her grave as "Maggi"

This secret burial was discovered so the government had to bring her body back to Argentina. They still did not allow anybody to see the body so they again hid her body, tasking only one person to guard the waxed remains.

This lone guard, however, was charged and sent to prison for un-christian acts against Evita's body.

When Juan Peron died, it was only then that they allowed Evita's body to be viewed by the public. She was buried alongside her husband in Buenos Aires.
