Miss Philippines Maria Venus Raj Tops Miss Universe 2010 Poll

Miss Philippines Maria Venus Raj currently tops the online survey conducted by The Miss Universe Organization (MUO) on the pageant's website.

The online poll puts Venus Raj of the Philippines at the top choice with a rating of 3.58. She is followed by Miss Bolivia Claudia Arce Lemaitre with 3.00 and Miss Venezuela Marelisa Gibson with 2.93.

Although the public voting does not in any way affect the choice of the judges, it reveals Ms. Raj's popularity among the public.

Preliminary judges have already selected the Top 15 candidates for the 2010 Miss Universe beauty contest now being held in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. They will be announced during the televised show on Monday night Aug. 23.

She's gorgeous alright! But there remains the question on whether she is really Filipino or not.

I think that question had been answered, yes she is a Filipino citizen. Philippine nationality law is currently based upon the principles of jus sanguinis. Her mom is pure Filipina. Jus sanguinis is a social policy by which nationality or citizenship is not determined by place of birth, but by having an ancestor who is a national or citizen of the state.
