Pam Weaver, an Australian woman was found dead after a camel apparently tried to have sex with her, police reported. The camel (file photo) was a birthday present at her 60th birthday by her husband and daughter.

Her husband Noel found her dead body at the family’s sheep and cattle ranch near Mitchell, Brisbane. The camel was a less than a year old.

According to Detective Senior Constable Craig Gregory, probably the camel had been playing or it might be a sexual sort of thing.

Paddy McHugh, a camel expert however, said that it appeared distinctive of a mating conduct. He added, “What happened are certainly characteristics of a bull in season.”

Camels kill their opposition by pulling their legs out from underneath and then sit on them with their chest, he added.

Further, he said that for the past 100 years, people have been killed by camels in Australia and have previously attacked other animals also.

Post-mortem examinations will be conducted and there is no decision yet as to whether the animal will be killed.
