Russian views of the HAARP program - no secret!

(Moscow) Some Russian scientists believe the "scorching Egyptian heat" was caused by a U.S. attack using a "climate weapon", said Svetlana Kuzina in an article in Komsomolskaya, Pravda. It seems some Russians blame the secret antenna complex in Alaska, a facility the U.S. calls the High Frequency Active Aural Research Program station, as a possible cause of the heat wave in Moscow?

The station, is a field studded with 180 70 foot antennas in rural Alaska, ostensibly conducts research on the ionosphere. But Russian military and civilian experts speculate it is really "a geophysical or ionospheric weapon" of some kind.

Russian scientists claim that ever since 1997, when the HAARP began operation, Russia and other countries have experienced severe weather phenomena, including unusually strong hurricanes and earth quakes, and most recently volcanic eruptions.

This idea that the U.S. is somehow responsible for causing a heat wave in Moscow is so far fetched, surely nobody could believe this! So I contact a old friend of mine Andrei Areshev and the Russian Strategic Culture Foundation. Andrei sends me an email entitled: "Russian Parliment Expressed concern about U.S. plans to develop new weapon", dated Aug 2002.

It reads as follows:

"The Russian Duma has expressed concern about the U.S. program to develop a qualitatively new type of weapon. Under the High Frequency Active Auroral Research Program (HAARP), the U.S. is creating new intergal geophysical weapons that may influence the near Earth medium with high frequency radio waves", the Duma said in an appeal circulated on Thursday.

"The significance of this qualitative leap could be compared to the transition from cold steel to fire arms, from conventional weapons to nuclear weapons. This new type of weapon differs from previous types in that the near Earth medium becomes at once an object of direct influence and it's component. These conclusions were made by the commission of the state Duma international affairs and defense committees", the statement reads.

"The committee reported that the U.S. is planning to test three facilities of this kind. One of them is located on the military testing grounds in Alaska, the second one is in Greenland, the third one in Norway. When these facilities are launched into space from Norway, Alaska, and Greenland, a closed contour will be created with truly fantastic intergral potential for influencing the near Earth mediums", the State Duma said.

They demanded that the international ban be put on such large scale geo physical experiments. The appeal, signed by 90 Deputies, has been sent to then President Vladimir Putin, to the United Nations and other international organizations, to the Parliments and leaders of the UN member counties. Among the signatories are a virtual who who list of powerful Russian politicans: Tatyana Astrakhankina, Yegor Ligaclev, Sergei Rushulsky, Vitaly Sevastyanov, Nikolai Kharitonov, ...just to name a few.

I suppose it doesn't help matters that everything associated with HAARP is classified "top secret", so no one inside government will even talk about it openly with the general public . Making it virtually impossible to refute such allegations, as this. But it does make you wonder sometimes what the hell is going on here?

FIRES RAGE!

How serious are the wildfires? In Moscow alone, the combination of "intense heat and polluted air has doubled the death rate, to 700 people a day", according to some official estimates. Reports of people fleeing the city for their very lives to escape the intense heat and polluted air.

In addition the fire and drought have devastated the local agriculture industry in the area, destroying at least 10 million hectares of wheat! Causing Russian officials to suspend wheat exports, at least temporarily until the matter of re-supply can be determined.

UNPRECEDENTED!

The Russian Meteorological Center says that judging from soil deposits and historical documents, this summer's heat wave is the worst in 1000 years. "Our ancestors haven't observed or registered a heat like this." said AlexanderAlexander Frolov, head meteorologist.

Expect that this fires will play a significant role in upcoming elections. Now the Russian people will demand more preventative measures against the heat. That may push Russia into the fight against global warming.

OTHER POSSIBLE CAUSES!

"The heat may be a consequence of climate change, but the fires are not", said Vedomosti in the editorial.

Russia is "burning today" because officials failed to take two simple preventative measures: reclaiming marshlands and providing adequate funds for a fire service. In Soviet times, peat bogs were drained and "died out in mass", enabling peat to be used as industrial fuel source. When the country switched to gas and oil, the marshes died, and were abandoned, becoming so much kindling after a while.

There are numerous reports that Russian firefighters didn't have enough gear and equipment to do the job. Some claim the firefighters lacked the resources to effectively fight the fire in the first place...

WAS IT ARSON?

There is some speculation that the cause of the wild fire may have been intentional. Possibly a terrorist attack? This is also being investigated as one possibility in this case.

In terms of cost, Russia will suffer economic losses totalling more than $15 billion dollars U.S., in what is one of the worst disaster incidents in the history of Moscow.
