The place is not only known for its historic importance, as a buzzing city, with a rich cultural history Melaka, or as the locals call it Malacca, is a shopping heaven. Jonker Street and Jonker Walk
Not far from the Dutch Square and the Melaka harbor, Jonker Street is found, it is the main street crossing the idyllic town center. Walking along the tiny facades a nd houses one can still feel how once business was done here, the sounds of the past still linger in Jonker Street.
Jonker Street Night Market or Pasar Malam
All year long on Friday and Saturday night Jonker Street turns into a bustling street market, with hundreds of professional vendors but also locals selling “ala” garage sale. It is a bee hive of activity on these evenings and Malaysia being Malaysia food and drinks are everywhere.
Mahkota Parade Shopping Mall and Dataran Pahalwan Shopping Mall
Built on a staggering 1.2 million square feet, the Mahkota Parade Shopping Mall is one of the largest shopping centers available in Melaka. The complex is a large brownish-red building that has several levels and is met at one end with the ritzy Hotel Equatorial. From day one, the gigantic Mahkota has captured the imagination of Melaka shoppers. Its construction has redefined Melaka, branding it as one of the most “modern” cities in Malaysia. Parkson Grand.
Dataran Pahalwan Shopping Mall is a little older but from the same allure, and shoppers love the small shops in this center.
Jusco Melaka and Super Cowboy
Jusco and Super Cowboy are two hyper markets just outside the city center. Aspecially Super Cowboy is a place where the variety of food and hardware will amaze the visitor.
Melaka is a perfect day away from life, plenty of shopping for the young and elder tourist.
