Nearly seven people have died including a child and forty others suffered injuries as a bus carrying devotees overturned due to over speed near Bahawalpur on Thursday morning, Geo News reported.
According to rescue sources, three busses carrying pilgrims set out from Manchanabad place to addend Urs ceremonies at shrine of Hazrat Lal Shahbaz Qalander – a renowned sufi saint in Sehwan district of Sindh, when one of those overturned on a turning point by dint of over speeding near Rama rail crossing.
The accident resulted in deaths of seven persons including a 2-year-old infant while forty others were injured, sources said.
Rescue teams resorted to a crane for recovery activities through which the ill-fated bus was set straight and subsequently, dead bodies and injured were rescued from it.
Those injured shifted to Bahawal Victoria Hospital were 20 in numbers as some minor wounded persons were provided first aid services on the spot.
Hospital sources said eight among injured persons were critical in condition.
