North Korea's state health care system has been
deteriorating for years. Doctors sometimes perform
amputations without anesthesia and work by candlelight in
hospitals lacking necessary medicine, heat and power.
Many of North Korea's people face health problems related to chronic malnutrition. For instance tuberculosis and anemia.
