Earthquake measuring 7.1 on the Richter scale shook the region a potential tsunami of Papua and Papua New Guinea on Sunday (18/07/2010) at 20:35 pm.
Based on information reported by the Meteorological and Geophysical Climatology tonight, the epicenter was at 6:29 LS - 150.81 BT, with a depth of 26 kilometers. Epicenter was 537 kilometers northeast of Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea, 1071 miles North West Honiara Solomon Islands, 1184 kilometers northeast of Merauke, Papua, 1197 km southeast of Jayapura, Papua, and 4886 kilometers southeast of Jakarta.
7.1 Richter earthquake is an aftershock, after having also occurred at 20:04 with a power of 7.2 Richter quake to a depth of 77 kilometers. Epicenter was at 6:20 LS - 150.31 BT, or 503 kilometers northeast Port Moresby, PNG.
