Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif known as Shahbaz Sharif, the present Chief Minister of Punjab, the biggest Province of Pakistan was born in 1950 in Lahore, is a graduate with distinction.

He is the younger brother of ex-prime minister of Pakistan Mian Muhammed Nawaz Sharif. As a keen businessman he played a vital role in the success of Ittefaq Group of Companies, which was founded by his father and uncles. He came into politics to follow the footsteps of his brother and "Quaid" of Pakistan Muslim League.

Mian Shahbaz Sharif’s first marriage with his cousin Begum Nusrat Shahbaz was contracted in 1973 with the approval of his father late Mian Muhammad Sharif. They have two sons and three daughters. Begum Nusrat Shahbaz is a housewife. Shahbaz Sharif's second marriage is with Aaliya Honey in 1993-94. At that time he was living in London. Shahbaz Sharif's third marriage is with Tehmina Durrani. This is the third marriage for both of them.

He started his political career in 1988 when he was selected as the member of Punjab provincial Assembly. During 1993-1996 he served as an opposition leader at the Punjab Assembly. In 1997 he served as chief Minister of Punjab.

Shahbaz Sharif is considered as amongst the most disciplined individual along excellent administrative skills. During his present and past era, he is famous for bureaucracy control and cutting the red tape. He has credit of renewing Lahore and lot of development work in Punjab. Despite all controversies, Shahbaz Sharif is remembered as the best chief minister any province in Pakistan ever had.

He was elected as the president of Pakistan Muslim League on 3rd august 2002 while he was on exile in Saudi Arabia. He was once thought of as a strong future candidate for Prime Minister of Pakistan. As President of the Pakistan Muslim League (N), there is popular belief that he will emerge as Pakistan's Prime Minister if his brother permits it.
