Kellogs issued a voluntary recall of popular breakfast cereals on 25th June 2010. This recall affects Kellogg’s® Corn Pops®, Honey Smacks®, Froot Loops® and Apple Jacks® cereals. The official reason is that they do not meet quality standards. However, the real reasons are kept slightly under cover. Apparently consuming the cereal with certain barcode numbers will make consumers sick.

According to the Kellogg’s recall website, Kellogg’s in cooperation with the FDA, has identified a substance on the inner packaging liners that will give the consumers a product with a waxy feel and off-taste. Only the products in the foil-backed paper liner are affected by this recall. Consumers have “experienced temporary symptoms, including nausea and diarrhea.” And are advised to see their health care practitioner.

The products have been shipped nationwide and all retailers involved have been notified of the recall.

According to the Kellogg’s recall website only the following products are included in the recall:

“Only products with the letters "KN" following the Better If Used Before Date are included in the recall.
