Govt. Issues Record 2.1M Drop-Side Cribs Recall

There has been some disturbing news for one family as they had to hospitalize their infant child when he was found unconscious in his crib when he managed to get his head through the gap between the side rail of his crib and the actual bedding of the crib. This was one of the most severe reports which was made leading seven companies to make the Crib Recall 2010. The Crib Recall 2010 has been implemented by seven companies which in total are calling back as many as two million cribs.

The companies are saying that there have been no deaths related to the risk imposed by the faulty design of the cribs. Some of the companies involved in the Crib Recall 2010 are, Million Dollar Baby, Evenflo and Child Craft and there have been 250 reports of the side rail of the crib detaching which poses the risk of the infant falling from the crib.

On top of that there have been 16 reports of suffocation through the side rail of the crib. The cribs in question have a sliding side rail of the crib so that the parents can take their children out with added convenience but the problem arises when the side rail is completely raised. When the side rail is completely raised there is a gap which is big enough for a child to get his or her head through and then if the side rail comes down it can lead in the strangulation or suffocation of the child.

Luckily, there have been no deaths related to this Crib Recall 2010 and any parent who has purchased from either of the seven companies should contact their nearest outlet to get a full refund.

It's no wonder very few parents use cribs these days.
