Is Gomes a real life Michael Westin?

The cease fire that ended the Korean war conflict could be at risk of plunging us into a Nuclear war.

North Korea threatened to increase the sentence for Aijalon Mahli Gomes who was sentenced to hard labor and fined for what the North Koreans are calling an illegal entry in the country. The United States has asked the North Koreans to release him but they refuse.

For those who do not know, North Korea is a communist country that is ruled by Kim Jong Il. The company has released other people such as journalist Lisa Ling's sister, Laura Ling when former President Clinton traveled there on a humanitarian mission. However Gomes is a private citizen without a celebrity sibling. North Korea refuses to release the man due to the sinking of a South Korean sub for which S. Korea & the US believe N. Korea is responsible for.

S. Korea has asked the UN for censure but N. Korea denies it and has warned that any moves will be considered a threat which could lead to another armed conflict with a country that is not so secretive about their nuclear abilities.

Hesitant to start another armed conflict or quite possibly WW3, the US & S. Korea have asked N. Korea to consider a more peaceful option to relieve the tensions over the sub sank in March. However N. Korea views Gomes as an unlawful infilitration as an act of war. They are currently looking to take harsher measures under wartime law.

Despite the US and S. Korea's attempt to resolve the issue in a peaceful matter, N. Korea is looking to hold this man as an example. The question is what does the American people not know? Is Gomes a special operations soldier caught on the wrong side of the border or is he a spook, (the slang for a intelligence or counter-intelligence officer) who was, as N. Korea claims was in the country on an illegal intelligence gaining mission. If so, whatever agency he is with would have 'burned' him and left him on his own, choosing to deny knowledge of him to negate an act of war.

This is the way all countries work. This is how a lot of intelligence is gained on the other side. It has gone on since former government was founded around the time of the Greek city-states.

How else would terrorist nations be able to plan their attacks? If not for spies or sleepers is the term the press uses for the Al-Qaeda terrorists who planned the 9/11 attacks. I would be intersted for the perspective from my Muslim counterparts since the formal press seems to try to force us into opposing sides.

I am not taking a swipe at a real conflict and trying to make a joke about this. It happens all of the time. If this is the case I think they need to take a step back and retrained their operatives.
