A European Union judge has released from prison the US terror suspect Bajram Asllani, who was arrested Thursday under the charges of conspiring the terrorist actions in the US, Kosovo and elsewhere.

Asllani (29) has been released due to the lack of evidence against him. He was ordered to report to police twice a week, and forbidden to leave Kosovo.

Asllani is second Kosovo citizen among nine persons suspected of planning the terrorist actions in the US, Kosovo, and elsewhere. Allegedly, he and Hysen Sherifi were planning to establish an operational base in Kosovo, where they would also recruit persons for “military jihad”.

Asllani was arrested Thursday in Kosovska Mitrovica by the Kosovo and Eulex police and in presence of five FBI agents. He is suspected of maintaining the regular contact with one jihad group from the North Carolina, whose members were arrested in July 2009.

According to the warrant issued by the US authorities, Asllani, also known as “Ebu Hatab”, is charged with providing material support to terrorists and conspiring to murder, kidnap, maim and injure people abroad.
