World Cup 2010 Slovenia VS USA Live from Ellis Park Stadium 18 June

The match that just took place between USA and Slovenia seems to be getting a lot of attention and one of the major reasons behind that is Koman Coulibaly. Koman Coulibaly who has been refereeing for FIFA for a while now does not have the very best of reputations either as he has been labelled 'the worlds worst referee' on Wikipedia. The incident which has led his name to be one of the most sought after searches on the internet is that he called a foul on a free kick by Landon Donovan while replays showed that there was no offside or any such reason to call the kick a foul.

The free kick by Donovan went for a goal but Koman Coulibaly called it off side, or at least that is what the logical explanation comes to since there wasn't any other reason for him to blow the whistle. The commentators were completely taken by shock by the whistle blown by Koman Coulibaly and they then mentioned that the only thing that looked like a foul in the replay was Michael Bradley being held back by one of the Slovenians.

Koman Coulibaly is not going to be very pleased with himself when he goes over the replays later on though from where he was standing it can be understood why he would think USA to be off side. From an aerial view it was clear that none of the USA team was off side when the ball was kicked but from where Koman Coulibaly was standing there might have been that little margin of error.

This is indeed coming as terrible new for USA fans who were looking to take the lead in their group with the winning of this match. Koman Coulibaly is going to be going through some hard times now as his credibility is questioned following the decision he made on the free kick.
