Halwa pori has developed into a traditional breakfast in Pakistan specially Karachi and Lahore over the years. This delicious yet weird mix of sweet halwa & savory curry with fried pori is awesome and tummy filling. Halwa Poori is eaten at all times, but it is usually a part of breakfast or an early evening meal.
In Karachi this breakfast item is synonymous with Sunday as it is available only at this day of the week because of being the holiday while in Lahore its availability on weekdays is also guaranteed.
This yummy dish consists of deep fried flour bread (crispy pori), served with sweet and yellow or orange colored suji Halwa and two types of curries sometimes separate or mixed of Chickpeas (choley) and potato. Traditional mango pickle and onion pickle are also served along with fresh yogurt. Sometimes it also plays the role of brunch as it is too heavy to consume lunch after having this breakfast.
One can not imagine Sunday without halwa pori.
So have you eaten it today?
