According to the 2010 Trafficking in Persons Report published by the US State Department on June 14, Kosovo was identified as source, transit and destination country for woman and children, victims of the human trafficking and especially the forced prostitution.
The majority of the trafficking victims are women from the Eastern Europe, including Moldova, Albania, Bulgaria and Serbia, the Serbian daily Politika reported referring to Pristina-based media.
Women and children were found as subjects of forced prostitution in Kosovo and Europe wide, it was stated.
According to the reports of non-governmental organizations, more than 300 children, in particular Roma, were forced to begging.
The report of the American administration said “the Kosovo government didn’t follow the minimal measures to eliminate for the trafficking elimination”.
